Pines are built for persistence. Their needles are covered in a thin, waxy coating that helps reduce water loss, allowing many species to keep their needles through winter and begin photosynthesizing as soon as conditions allow.
Those familiar rings of needles also tell another story. Pine needles grow in small bundles called fascicles, and the number of needles in each bundle can help identify the species — often two, three or five at a time.
And while we tend to think of evergreens as unchanging, a pine is constantly replacing itself. Older needles are shed as new ones grow, allowing the tree to remain green without keeping the same needles forever.

Every Wooden Ink print begins with a reclaimed tree and is hand-pulled from the original slab.
The Original Slab
The slab is the original manuscript. Carefully cut from reclaimed timber. Every print is one interpretation of the story it spent a lifetime writing.
Every print is inked and pulled by hand using the original slab. No digital reproductions. No automated printing. Each pull carries the subtle character of the process.
No two prints are exactly alike. Because your print is hand-pulled from reclaimed timber, slight variations in ink and pressure combine naturally to make your print uniquely yours.

If you have a meaningful tree or piece of reclaimed timber you'd like transformed into an original print, we'd love to hear its story.
